Mahtab (left) 45 and her sister Mahnaz (right) 39 years old standing in a garden near their house in Tehran. They were detected by city cameras for not wearing the mandatory hijab and subsequently recognized by facial recognition software and arrested at night in their home on October 16th, 2022. They spent 28 days in Evin prison security detention center and 3 months in Qarchak prison. Mahtab was sentenced to 10 years and Mahnaz was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Both were released by the general pardon of the leader of the Islamic Republic. They are both working in a beauty salon in Tehran.
