A girl is holding a placard of Woman Life Freedom in a public demonstration on Keshavarz Boulevard in Tehran. On September 19th, 2022, after Mahsa Amini was killed at the hands of the morality police due to not complying with the Islamic dress code, thousands of people took to the streets of Iran. From its start, these demonstrations were violently suppressed by the police and security forces. Thousands of people were killed in subsequent months demanding change to the political and social conditions in Iran. Hundreds of people lost their eyes. More than a hundred thousand people were arrested and imprisoned and dozens of people were executed.
